My studio is based deep in the mean unforgiving streets of Lochgoilhead. A small village in Argyll on the West Coast of Scotland, it's mainly raining but we get sun for a few days of the year.
This whole gig started out as a full renovation company that had visions of world domination (seriously) and it was getting there (seriously, maybe, who knows) I had employees, great work, good contacts and doing all that business stuff that you think should be doing. Eventually I found myself at the stage where I was constantly working, my hair was going grey and our three boys were growing up super fast. I would wonder if this was it, was this the payoff for being a business guy. I made up my mind and decided that this isn’t it, it’s not me, I’m on the wrong wave, time to change it up.
We done some travelling, I got to know my wife and boys again, it was a nice time, a great time, I was shit at surfing!
When we got back to the motherland I thought it would be a good idea to set up a small furniture studio and concentrate on the craft. Since then I've been designing/building my own stuff as well as commission pieces for private clients, interior designers and architects. Every now and again I'll get the odd gig designing and fitting out those fancy rooms you'll see in the 'Pojects' page but building my own furniture is where I'm heading.
Who knows were it goes, the journey’s exciting and I'm still wondering how I'm managing to make a living doing what I do.
Peace, love, and save the whale :)
