2020

2020’s nearly done. Anyone who tells me that it wasn’t that weird of a year is a liar, it’s the same people who tell you they understand all the restrictions and what’s allowed and what’s not allowed. Liars. I’m not even too convinced that the turn of the year will bring anything different, I’m not sure New Years matter anymore, it’s getting too weird.

But, it seems that everyone has decided to do work on their houses, maybe it’s because there’s more people working from home or people aren’t going on holiday so they spend the money on their house? Who knows, man. But I got so many emails for wainscotting and other types of panelling and wardrobe/kitchen stuff. It was nice but I couldn’t get back to everyone, email’s just kept coming in then I was working on the jobs I could work on and it got a bit mental. It’s still mental, I got an email on Christmas day about a job. Like I was saying about New Year, same as Christmas, no one cares about it much now, fair enough, I don’t mind how people choose to live. None of my business.

I think the weather’s this year has been one of the best. Weirdest year, a lot of people lost their minds and turned to alcoholism but the weather was good, take the wins wherever you can.

I done my first thing this year for a Glasgow clothing company Finneston Clothing and I’m pretty sure with my modelling shots I took while walking the dog would turn them into an instant hit. They just opened a shop on Byers Road in the West End and once my photos came out I’ve heard that they were looking at places in Beverly Hills. What can I say!

Listen, I’m a normal guy and I just want to live a normal life, I’m not a real model. Should I be? Probably but I’ve got a busy year ahead planned and the modelling will get in my way.

This is the cooker hood section for my own house. It’s upside down on the bench.

This is it in position during the fitting. I always have kitchens painted before fitting and we touch it up once it’s all fitted. But it was getting close to Christmas and Gemma’s from Ayrshire. You don’t mess with any Scottish women, especially the ones from Ayrshire, they’re not right. So I was on a deadline to get the cooker in before Christmas.

Still another coat of paint, the larder unit door needs to stay off until the dresser unit to the left is made and fitted, and we’ve got masking tape for handles but we’re getting there. The cooker was fitted and all wired up so we’re good. Tiling and painting then onto the dresser then the floor then the lighting, then the ceiling maybe in 2022, if I’m still alive, you never know :)

Made good progress on the house this year, probably more than any other year. Also this year I’ve played more golf than any other time and I played a lot back in the day. It’s only the middle boy who’s into it and he plays every day, I suppose there’s worse stuff a young teenager could be addicted to. Still not beat me though. I let them win games and stuff up to the age of about 10 but after that they need to put in the effort to beat me at anything. I apologise but I take no prisoners.

One other thing that I’m going to be doing more of this coming year is home renovations and extensions. I’ve done a few over the past couple of years but mainly stuck to the wood stuff for the most part and it was a good few years just working by myself in the workshop. I thought it’d be the best but I like working with other people and the chat you get from a lot of tradesmen working together on a house is pretty funny. I don’t think I’m one of those people who hate everyone and want to be alone all the time.

So I’ve got the old band back together and we’re going to be doing a few renovations next year. I’ll still be doing the wood stuff and kitchens from the workshop in between the bigger projects. I’m keeping both separate so all the construction stuff will be here It allows us to do everything from the home renovation to the fitted furniture, looking forward to it.

Last thing is these old videos I’ve found on YouTube. There’s nothing better than when a Glasgow woman puts on that posh accent when they’re on the telly. My gran used to do it when she’d meet people she wouldn’t know.

That’s us for a wee recap on the year. Weirdest year ever and the way it’s going down freaks me out a bit but maybe we’re just the ones living through this weird change. I’m pretty happy I grew up in the 90’s and early 2000’s.

I’m adding in a wee bit for the google searches, it works and it’s adding this stuff in to this website that got me those millions of emails that I struggled to answer during this past year. You don’t need to read it and I apologise for my marketing campaign being so transparent. Speak to you later.
