Extension/Renovation Prices 2023...

Here’s a drawing for a job I’m getting a cost together for…

It’s a one story extension with a part of the existing house being changed about to suit the new extension. This one has a Sedum green roof, I’ve heard of them before but never done any. One of these…

This picture’s from Here if you want any info on them.

There’s a few ways to price a project like this one. There’s an cost of anywhere between £1,500 - £2,500 that you can multiply the square meterage by and this will give you an idea of the total cost. I’m old, so I remember when the cost for a pretty good extension was £1,100 per square metre. I’ve not heard of anyone charging £1,500 per metre for a while but there probably will be. I’m not sure how accurate it is though when you get involved in some detailed stuff, probably good for a ballpark.

Personally I’ll go through the full job bit by bit and get all the costs together from each stage, how many lengths of 6”x2” How many sheets of plasterboard, groundworks, the electricians cost, plumbers cost etc. Then put them all together for the cost. It’s not far from £2,000 per square metre but, still, not sure how accurate.

I only do it this way, and double check with the per metre cost, because I’ve had a litany of failures growing up, experience is a good teacher, I suppose.

Also this is Argyll in Scotland. I think it’s more expensive than Glasgow for work getting done but again, just in my experience.

Again, best thing to do if you’ve found this and want to discuss your project is to get in touch and we can take it from there. You can go through the website to see the varied projects we do.
