Walnut Sideboard

Busy times since being back to work after cutting myself. Finishing jobs that were halfway done and starting on new stuff. Kinda back to a normal pace.

This was one of a few things going to the same place. I made a bed for the folks a year or so ago, maybe two years ago.

Solid walnut sideboard with two sliding doors and three push to open drawers. I think picking good wood does most of the work.

This was one for the kitchen. Sliding doors can take up a bit of depth but I worked out a nice minimal track to give more depth. The mixer must fit!

We done a box joint on the corners. I like a box joint, and the walnut was pretty nice too.

See the lighter tuff along the bottom, the sapwood. I like a bit of that in walnut, just long the edges of pieces. Is it weird saying you like a certain wood or certain markings that a type of wood produces? I think it’s maybe just a privilege or something like that to be able to talk about this stuff. So I suppose that’s nice.

Take it easy.
