Dovetailed Box

What’s happening? I made a small jewellery box for our anniversary, we usually go away somewhere but this shit that’s going on means we just took it easy at the hose, there’s worse things that we could be made to do. Saying you’re made to do something sounds weird. A certain group of humans telling other humans what they can and can’t do. That’s weird but whatever.

The box is done in walnut, pretty simple, nothing fancy but I want to do more stuff with hand tools, deadlines and the jobs that I’m asked to do don’t always allow the time to use some hand tools so this time has been pretty good.

I should have gave it a wipe down before I took pictures but, next time.

The two drawers slide to get to the next level down, it worked well I think. Zoom in, man. Theres a few small gaps, one chip from a corner and a few marks but I like it, I like stuff that looks as though it was made by hand, by someone. I think stuff like that ages well. I’ve got a jig and machine that cuts dovetails for drawers and you can get them perfect, it’s nice but there’s something nicer about hand cut work. Maybe not but I think there is.

Take it easy.
