Floating Oak Bed
/We done this oak bed and it was to look as though it was floating. A bit of testing the metal work and it turned out a successful mission.
I don’t know what I’m doing here, no doubt explaining my solution to solve everything external that I’ve got no control over while in real life I still cant get my music to play on Gemmas car or figure out how to work the heating either. A lot of woodworkers got into politics, I’m sure more than one became president.. It was a joiner who invented Lego too. I think it might be because you’re problem solving all the time and in one delusional swoop you think you can fix the world. some are right too. Not me though.
I like the box joint detail. I’ve not found a jig to be able to do this. People tell me there’s one but I don’t see the point in using a jig that takes the same amount of time as doing it by hand on the band saw.
I like to do it this way because I’m not in a rush and I like the difference in sizes doing it by hand, the pins aren’t different by much but I just like stuff thats been made where there’s evidence of a human been present. A wee millimeter here a millimeter there, it looks good.
I like cracks in wood and I like curves. These walut ties were just a thing I though would look nice.
Lewis obviously worked on this one with me, he done all the metal fabrication, we both did the brainstroming on how it’d work, we wanted the base underneath to be as small as possible.
This was a good one to do, a rough sketch of what it should look like from the clients and we took it from there, that’s how it should be. The idea then let the people who make it figure it out and do their thing. Or I should say that’s my preferred way. I think you get the best outcome that way.
If you’re looking for something like this and found this website, gimme a shout and we can see what we can do. Also, if you’ve got a friend that you think might like this it’d be great if you could send them it.
