A Quick Danish

I’m doing a few benches and few mirrors… and a wee coffee table for Magda, Magda is an interior designer, Magda bought the first ever Danish cord bench that I sold, It was maybe the fifth or sixth one I had done, the ones before the one she bought were just practice.

This is a smaller footstool and the Danish cord weave on all of them is different, different than each other and all different than the usual style of weaving. Obviously I said “yes, I’ll be able to do that” without investigating.

I’ve noticed a thing that triggers me, if someone says something like “We’ve had a few joiners come to look and they all said it’s too tricky for them and we’d maybe struggle to find someone” Then I obviously reply with “I’ll be able to do that pretty easily” I don’t know what it is, I’m 43 this year, I don’t need anyones cheers or validation. Even if I don’t make any money on the said job, I’m still doing it. A psychopath! I must think it gives me some bragging rights or the story of “Neil” lives on when visitors ask the people who done their joiner work. But I’ll tell you right now - No one cares, everyones too busy making money on the jobs they can make money on and have as little stress as possible. How mental.

Anyway (Do you know the TV show Burnistoun - the ice cream van sketch, Rab Florence is saying “anyway” to his brother, Very funny) But anyway, these were some designs from Magda and I think they they’re turning out well. This one is the only one finished 100%. I don’t mind it, very nice.

If you’re looking for something with Danish cord and you’re in Glasgow/Edinburgh or the UK gimme a shout. (Thats my script for google to find me) Handmade stuff with Danish cord or restoring older Danish cord funrniture. I like the material, happy to look at your ideas.
