Still Alive!
/I’m usually quite good at keeping up with putting stuff on this website regularly but it’s been months, man! Time flies. Really busy so that’s a bonus.
I’ve been losing weight gradually and only really noticed when the weather got warmer, all my t shirts were really big and had to buy new stuff, ended up noticing that I had lost quite a bit of weight, very mental, very surreal because I was always a fatty. Took about a year or so, the past 5 weeks I’ve taken diet really seriously and started training, how crazy. I think the training became a thing because I knew I’d have to shave my hair off and be an old bald man. my thinking was that muscles would be a better look if I had to be baldy. Hair is more respected. I don’t like being bald. I’ll get used to it I suppose. Anyway, down to around 11stone 10lbs as of now. Going to get to 11 stone to see how it looks. Think I was 11 stone when I was 7 years old.
We’ve done so much work and other stuff in the few months since I last updated this but here was a threshold for a set of doors we done. The door thing “Storm Doors Glasgow” is still going well. Going so well that I’ve had guys do their website to try and look like ours. How crazy is that. The doors don’t look as good as ours and their website designing skills aren’t anything to write home about but I think we’ll be ok. I was quite annoyed for about 3 minutes then I was flattered. Anyway, I’m onto the Trademarking of the whole thing now. The door thing has been a great exercise, very tough, painful, but very good to get into and work out. The boys are amazing, skilled, confident, polite, solid, strong, funny, they’re really getting after it.
The threshold was a line from the Arcade Fire song “No cars go” After he sent me the line through I was singing the song for a few days until we fitted it.
Caleb and myself have started to pull out a couple of slabs for some dining tables. We’ve got a few ideas for the bases, nothing mental, similar to the usual style of stuff we’ve been doing.
Here’s a piece of stained glass in a front door we done, pic of the full thing below. The stained glass guy who done this is called Stephen Weir it turned out great, and the people have a story around it, great stuff!
New story doors and new front door, you can find all the door stuff here > “Storm Doors Glasgow” or you can find it on instagram, all the doors are on there.
Anyway, quick update. I’d like to be more regular on this website. I like the idea that all this stuff will be searched for in 100 years from whoever the McKinlay’s of Loch Lomond end up being. Imagine being able to see one of your relations 100 years ago just doing their normal daily stuff, see how they spoke and moved, would be amazing. We’ve got all this opportunity to put stuff out there for when you’re dead and were just filming ourselves dancing about trying to sell courses on how to be better. It’s very weird. I’m all for people just putting their stuff up and disregarding the now, it’s all for when you’re dead.
If you’re looking for some work done (will do a good deal on a bed) the best thing to do is send an email, Gemma deals with all communication now so you’ll get a reply quicker. The storm doors have a big lead time, it’s pretty crazy but we’ve been struggling to get the guys, we’ve got a new guy just started so I think we’ll be fine.
Have a good day.
