Corten Steel Pivot Door

August was the last time I put anything on this website, nearly December, mental.

Here’s a corten steel pivot door we made and fitted not long ago…

It’s a timber frame inside with the corten steel on the front and back, edges all folded around. It was a tiny bit of an experiment with the best way to make it look good but it worked out pretty good I think.

The door weighed approx 220kgs, pretty crazy but it moves smooth on the pivot hinge, I’m at an age now where that stuff excites me, the age where you talk about insulation values and the most efficient heating systems. I prefered being younger.

Plenty texture, we sealed the door after the corten got its rusty colour, it was sealed mainly to stop the rust rubbing off on your hand when you were opening and closing.
